Sensex, Nifty turn choppy on tepid global cues

Mumbai: Equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty started on a choppy note on Thursday as global investors turned cautious over US President Donald Trump’s impeachment.

Sensex on Thursday was trading 24.89 points lower at 41,533.68. Similarly Nifty was trading 19.55 points low at 12,184.55.

Similarly, at 10:15 am, Sensex was trading at 41,518 points, and Nifty was trading at 12,210 points.

M&M, HCL Tech, Tata Motors, Asian Paints, TCS and HUL were the top gainer in the Sensex pack. Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, ICICI Bank, Sun Pharma, HDFC, Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel were among the top losers today.

On the currency front, the rupee depreciated marginally to 70.98 against the US dollar in morning session.
