Shamli: Farmer leader demands pending cane dues

Shamli: As the sugarcane crushing season in Uttar Pradesh is in the final phase, the cane farmers are still awaiting their cane pending.

According to the news report published in Jagran.com, sugar mills in the Shamli district owe arrears around Rs 800 crore to the cane farmers. Sugarcane farmers claim that they are reeling under financial stress to meet their daily needs as the mills are not clearing their pending cane dues.

Farmers’ leader Rajan Jawala has sent a letter to the chief minister Yogi Adityanath urging him to take action against the sugar mills that have failed to abide by the rule of clearing cane bills within 14 days of crushing their cane.

In a letter addressed to the chief minister he asked him to ensure sugar mills clear the cane dues.
