Shamli: Under the leadership of the National President of the Farmers’ Union, Savit Malik, a delegation of farmers reached the Collectorate. Subsequently, a memorandum was submitted to District Magistrate Ravindra Singh. Along with this, demand was made for the payment of last year’s outstanding sugarcane dues from Shamli Sugar Mill, reported Amar Ujala.
The delegation informed DM that all claims made by Sugar Mill for paying the outstanding sugarcane dues to the farmers are turning out to be false. They said that the payment of from the previous season has not been made. This is causing distress to the farmers. Payment for the sugarcane for the year 2023-24 is also pending. Farmers demanded that mill be forced to pay through sugar and other means. Present among those submitting the memorandum were Amit Nirwal, Jaypal Singh, Rishi Pal Malik, Kuldeep, and other farmers.
