Shamli: The three sugar mills in the Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh still owe Rs 554 crore to farmers for the 2022-23 crushing season, reported Live Hindustan.
In a meeting on Tuesday, Shamli District Magistrate Ravindra Singh asked the unit heads of the sugar mills that the payment must be made before the start of the crushing season and Diwali.
ADM Santosh Kumar Singh, DCO Vijay Bahadur Singh, Lead Bank Manager Uma Shankar Garg, unit heads and finance heads of the three sugar mills in the district, and secretaries of the three sugarcane committees were also present in the meeting.
The DM was informed during the meeting that for the crushing season of 2022-23, the Shamli Sugar Mill has paid Rs 109.45 crore out of a due of Rs 348.19 crore. The Unn Mill has paid Rs 236.42 crore out of a due of Rs 338.71 crore, while the Thanabhawan Mill has paid Rs 227.48 crore out of a due of Rs 440.47 crore.
