“Steps taken to install surveillance cameras in sugar mills under TASCO”

Perambalur: The Chairman and Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Sugar Corporation (TASCO), C. Vijayaraj Kumar, announced that measures are underway to install surveillance cameras in the sugar mills under the corporation’s purview in the state, reported The Hindu.

Speaking at the annual general body meeting of the share holders of Perambalur Sugar Mills Ltd., Eraiyur here recently, Mr. Kumar, who is the Commissioner of Sugar, said that the installation of cameras would commence shortly. Once operational, these cameras will facilitate comprehensive monitoring of mill operations directly from the Commissioner’s office, addressing a request from farmers for enhanced surveillance around the mill.

During the meeting, a diverse group of sugarcane farmers advocated for the establishment of an ethanol manufacturing unit at the mill. Additionally, they called for the waiver of loans granted to the mill by the government for rehabilitation purposes and urged the mill management to bear the costs associated with cane cutting. In response to these concerns, Kumar assured the general body members that their demands would be presented to the government for consideration.

The gathering also included the presence of District Collector K. Karpagam and other officials.
