Sugar output crosses 106 lakh tonnes in Maharashtra

Pune: Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra has almost ended as only three sugar mills are still operating. Out of total 190 sugar mills that had participated in the crushing activities this season, 187 mills have closed their operations.

According to the data released by the sugar commissionerate, mills in the state have produced 106.25 lakh tonnes of sugar by crushing 1012.29 lakh tonnes of sugarcane till May 20. The average sugar recovery rate is 10.50 per cent.

As per sugar commissionerate data, 43 sugar mills from Solapur division, 37 from Kolhapur, 26 from Nanded, 31 from Pune, 25 from Ahmednagar, 20 from Aurangabad, 3 from Nagpur and 2 from Amaravati have ended the crushing season.
