Sugar prices in Bangladesh increased by Tk 14 per kg

The prices of sugar produced by state-owned factories in Bangladesh raised by Tk 14.

The Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation issued a statement informing that the maximum retail price of local sugar has been increased from Tk 85 to Tk 99 per kg in resonance with international and domestic market prices.

The price of sugar produced by the corporation has been increased from Tk 74,000 to Tk 85,000 at the mill level which indicates the price of sugar per kg at the mill level will be Tk 85.

The price of sweetener at the dealer level has been fixed at Tk 87,000. The dealers will be able to buy sugar at Tk 87 per kg.

The domestic demand of the country is around 1.8 to 2 million tonnes anually and out of which most is imported.
