Sugar production in Maharashtra crosses 200 lakh quintals

Sugar mills in Maharashtra have produced more than 200 lakh quintal sugar till November 30, 2021, according to the sugar commissionerate.

As many as 172 sugar mills have started crushing operations so far. Mills have produced 203.43 lakh quintal sugarcane by crushing 222.4 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.15 per cent.

Solapur division in the state is leading with a maximum (41) number of sugar mills operating this season and they have produced 42.88 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 51.89 lakh tonne cane with a recovery rate of 8.26 per cent.

Kolhapur division has recorded more than 10 per cent of recovery rate during the ongoing crushing season. The mills from the Kolhapur division have produced 61.09 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 58.54 lakh tonne cane with a recovery rate of 10.44 per cent.
