Sugar production increases in Philippines

The favourable weather conditions have helped the sugarcane farmers to increase yield for the crop year 2020-21. Also, there is a hike in sugar production.

As per the data released by the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), in the current season, the sugar output till October 4 was increased by 131.89 per cent to 41,248 metric tonnes as compared to 17,788 MT output during the same time last year.

The sugarcane crushed during the same period has been doubled this year (571,842 MT) as compared with last year (250,650 MT).

The government officials have attributed the increase in output to the favourable weather condition. William D. Dar, Agriculture Secretary said, “The hard work of the sugarcane farmers and the good weather condition has helped in increasing sugar output.”
