Sugarcane crop impacted due to Pokka Boeing disease

Baraut, Baghpat: Around 25 per cent of the cane grown in the district has been infected with the Pokka Boeing disease, as per the Agriculture department, reports Amar Ujala.

The outbreak and spread of this disease speed up during frequent changes in the climate during the rainy season. Sugarcane crops are more prone to infection from June to September. Farmers are worried as they fear losses due to the disease.

The agriculture department has issued an advisory to the cane farmers regarding precautions to be taken to keep a check on the spread of the disease. The department has urged farmers to take adequate measures to control the spread of the disease.
