Sugarcane crops infected by ‘Red rot’ in Punjab districts

Sugarcane crops grown in Punjab are infected by the red rot disease, reveals the survey conducted by the Punjab government.

As per a news report published in deccanherald.com, sharing the information related to the survey with The Indian Express, Gurvinder Singh, Cane Commissioner, Punjab said, “The disease was noticed at several places during our survey of 50,000 acres of cane fields spread over 36 villages in the state.”

Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Pathankot and some parts of Ludhiana are some of the major cane growing districts that have been affected by the red rot disease.
