Sugarcane farmers protest in Tamil Nadu for their demands

Thanjavur: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of Tamizhaga Karumbu Urpathiyalargal Sangam (Tamil Nadu Sugarcane Cultivators Association) organized a protest near the Government Arignar Anna Sugar Mill, Kurunkulam for their several demands on Saturday, reports The Hindu.

Farmers have demanded clearance of pending cane dues worth Rs 21 crore immediately by Government Arignar Anna Sugar Mill and stated that the government should implement the promises made during election campaigning which include an increase in the cane purchase price to Rs 4000 per tonne.
