Sugarcane farmers threaten to launch agitation for pending cane dues

Baghpat: Sugarcane farmers have threatened to launch an agitation if the Kinauni sugar mill fails to clear the pending cane dues in time. The farmers gathered at the house of former chief of the village Imran Tyagi and held a meeting regarding the pending cane dues. During the meeting, they decided to launch an agitation if the mill doesn’t clear arrears in time.

Rajkumar Taya, General Manager of the mill has stated that the mill has already cleared the cane bills for the month of November which is sent to the sugarcane committee and the mill will soon clear the cane bills up to December 7.

The pending cane dues are one of the major issues that the sugarcane farmers continue to raise and launched agitations several times to press their demands. Sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh have cleared cane dues for crushing season 2019-20.
