Sugarcane farmers worried about their crop

Hardoi: In scorching heat, farmers are worried about standing sugarcane crop whereas sugar mills document shows very less sugarcane is remained for crushing. But according to farmers, along with cane standing in fields, long queue of their tractor trolleys loaded with sugarcane are lined up outside the sugar factory but no one is paying attention to the theirs plight.

Considering sugarcane as a cash crop, farmers produced it to get benefits but mills have shattered their dreams. Cane was grown on 78,000 hector area in the district and three mills were supposed to take up the crushing.

According to sugarcane department, crushing of 3.27 core tonne of cane has been completed and only 35 lakh tonne is remaining. But as per farmers, fact is something different.

District sugarcane officer Sanjay Kumar states that the crushing of Rupapur sugar mill is about to end and around 35 lakh tonne cane from Hariyawa and Loni mills are left for crush.

No taker for farmers’ online complaints

Farmers alleged that inspite of filing online complaint, no one is responding to it.  As per the figures furnished from the division, 531 complaints have been received from Hariyawa sugar mill. Out of these only 48 were addressed and 483 are pending. There are 361 complaints related to ticket system but not a single complaint has been addressed. 260 complaints were received against Rupapur sugar mill and only 10 complaints were addressed. Seven complaints related to ticket system out of 162 complaints were addressed.
