Sugarcane payment in Bangladesh goes digital

Dhaka : The Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) has signed an agreement with bKash, one of the largest MFS providers in the country to pay sugarcane farmers through bKash, reports Tbsnews.

As per the agreement, there will be transparency in cane payment and convenience to the cane farmers. The press release also states that the cane collection process will become smooth through this method.

Chowdhury Rahul Amin Kaiser, BSFIC Secretary, and Chief Commercial Officer of bKash Ali Ahmed signed the agreement representing their respective offices.

Around one lakh cane farmers associated with BSFIC will get their payment to their bKash account, as per the agreement. There are 3, 30,000 agent points spread across the country through which farmers can withdraw their payment without any charges. The Corporation and bKash will bear the cash-out charge. This will strengthen the relationship between farmers and Corporations.
