Thieves caught red handed in sugar mill

Ponda: Sanjivani Sugar Factory is struggling to survive, but on the other hand, theft is on the rise as the mill is shut. In the last 15 days, two theft cases have been reported, and as per report material worth over Rs 3 lakh has been stolen.

Following the theft case, Ponda police were on the lookout for offenders. Finally, they have been caught red-handed, when they were trying their third attempt to rob. According to the police, “Accused were caught red-handed with cutting tools in the mill premises by the workers. As soon as they entered the mill, the workers caught them and handed to us.”

Accused have been identified as Krishna Ingle (35), Rajesh Gupta (45), Sunil Ganachari (30) and Suresh Yadav (40). Theft materials have not been recovered from them. Police are further investigating the case.

The mill has registered a loss of Rs 101.22 crore due to unavailability of sugarcane and various reason. Government, after studying the feasibility of continuing the factory will take any decision related to the mill as measures will be taken.
