Three sugar mills in district owe cane dues worth Rs 66.77 crore

Bulandshahar: Three months have passed since the completion of cane crushing season but the farmers are yet to receive dues worth Rs 66.77 crore from the sugar mills in district, reports Amar Ujala.

There are as many as 1.30 lakh sugarcane farmers in the district and they sell their cane to Wave, Anamika, Sabhitgarh, and Anupshahar sugar mills. Apart from these mills, sugar mills from neighboring districts including Simbhavali and Brajnathpur from Hapur, Rajpura mill from Sambhal, and Chandanpur mill from Amroha also purchase cane from these farmers.

According to officials, Wave, Anupshahar, Simbhavali, and Brajnathpur sugar mills have not cleared the cane dues of farmers so far.

District sugarcane officer Brajesh Kumar Patel has stated that the department has issued notices to these mills warning that stern action will be initiated against them if they fail to clear the cane dues of farmers at the earliest.
