Trader who was facing probe in GST evasion case commits suicide

Indore: 45-year-old Tax adviser and grain trader from Indore, who was under scanner in connection with a GST evasion racket, allegedly committed suicide on Thursday at his residence.

According to the police, “Govind Agarwal ended his life by jumping off the third floor of a residential building.”

The family took him to the nearby hospital, but the doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

The family members alleged that after being implicated in a false GST case, two CAs were demanding a hefty amount from him.

The deceased son informed that last week GST officials raided his firm and house, following which he was in depression. He was under stress ever since a raid was conducted at his premises.

Agarwal’s brother claims that two CAs from Indore provided false information to GST team to trap Govind. “They had demanded money from Govind eight days ago. When he denied giving money they warned to implicate him in the wrong case,” he further added.
