Uncertainty over Triveni sugar mill’s crushing season

Deoband: The uncertainty over the cane crushing of Triveni sugar mill continues as the workers are adamant on demanding full bonus. Angry mill workers have been on strike since October 21. The workers said that the five of the seven mills of Triveni Group were given a bonus at the rate of 20 per cent, i.e. Rs 16800, but the Deoband unit is giving bonus as per 8.33 per cent. We will not tolerate this discrimination and will continue our agitation till we don’t get a 20 per cent bonus.

The mill was supposed to start crushing season from October 30, but workers bonus issue has affected its functioning. The agitating workers allege that the mill has not hiked salaries in the last few years and now cutting the bonus amount.

Workers in Deoband unit accused management of doing discrimination amongst the workers. Refuting the mill workers claim, Dinanath Mishra, vice president of the sugar mill, said that the bonus is being given according to the balance seat of 2018-19. No discrimination has been made against any employee.
