UP CM Yogi Adityanath warns of strict action against mills fail to clear pending cane dues

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath warned that those found negligent in paying dues and working against the sentiments of farmers would be jailed, reports The Indian Express.

He was speaking at an assembly election campaign rally in the Lakhimpur Kheri district.

Addressing the rally, he assured the farmers that the government is taking steps to ensure farmers get their cane dues on time.

“Instructions have been issued to the cane department to ensure that farmers get their dues in time. They have been asked to conduct meetings with the sugar mills to ensure the cane payment,” CM said.

“I have given instructions to ensure that the farmers get their cane dues on time with the start of new crushing season, otherwise remember our jails are waiting for those corrupt who work against the sentiments of farmers,” CM further added.
