UP govt decides to set up distillery in Pipraich sugar mill

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a distillery plant of 120 litres per day (LPD) capacity in the Pipraich sugar mill of Gorakhpur district.

This will be the first plant in UP that will produce ethanol directly from sugarcane juice.

According to the news report published in The Times of India, sharing the information, a spokesperson of the state government said that the government will set up the plant under the ethanol blending programme of the central government. The mill has a cane crushing capacity of 5000 tonnes of sugarcane per day.

The government has revived the sugar mills that were closed during the reign of the earlier governments which include the Munderwa sugar mill in Basti. The government has set up ethanol plants in Sathiaon and Najibabad mills.
