Uttar Pradesh: MP demands hike in sugarcane price

Dhampur, Uttar Pradesh: BSP MP from Nagina constituency, Girish Chandra, has demanded that the government should hike cane price to Rs 550 per quintal.

According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, he has written a letter to the state CM Yogi Adityanath asking to provide Rs 550 per quintal sugarcane price in the upcoming season 2020-21.

In a letter, the MP has stated that Cabinet approved a hike in the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for sugar season 2020-21 at Rs. 285/- per quintal for a basic recovery rate of 10 per cent. But this is not sufficient. However, the government should hike cane price considering the increase in the cost of sugarcane production. Accordingly, the fair price of sugarcane should be 500 to 550.
