Uttar Pradesh mulls to produce ethanol directly from sugarcane juice

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Uttar Pradesh government in order to reduce the sugar glut is planning to produce ethanol directly from the sugarcane juice.

According to the news report published in The Times of India, Sanjay Bhoosreddy, additional chief secretary, cane development said, “The proposal is in the stage of inter-departmental consultation. A formal policy will have to be framed to allow the production of ethanol directly from cane juice. The Centre has already mooted the broader policy framework.”

Following the central government’s policy to promote ethanol production, the sugar millers from Uttar Pradesh are encouraged to increase the capacity of ethanol production. To strengthen the financial condition of sugar mills and cut oil imports, the Government is emphasising on ethanol production.
