Uttar Pradesh to get 16 new distilleries soon

Lucknow: The ethanol production capacity of Uttar Pradesh is set to increase as the state plans to set up 16 new distilleries during 2021-22 fiscal. This will bring in an investment of Rs 1,250 crores in the state.

Apart from this, the 11 sugar mills have made an investment in their plants to increase their cane crushing capacity. Both these moves will benefit the sugarcane farmers in the state.

According to the news report published in Dailypioneer.com, the largest sugarcane producing state in the country, Uttar Pradesh, has produced 261.72 crore litres of ethanol from 2017-18 to January 31, 2021 from its 54 distilleries. Of the 16 new distilleries, one owned by Dalmia Group has started production and the remaining 15 are likely to start production by the year-end.
