Uttar Pradesh: Two sugar mills get Rs 35 crore for renovation

Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh government has granted Rs 35 crore for the renovation of two cooperative sugar mills – Kisan Cooperative at Puranpur (in Pilibhit district) and Semikhera (Baheri tehsil circle) of Bareilly district, reports The Times of India.

The mills will be renovated as they were old and farmers faced problems during crushing season, said officials.

Ramakant Pandey, MD of the Cooperative Sugar Factories Federation said, “The funds have been approved and renovation will start very soon. It’ll include upgradation of boiling and production units to ensure uninterrupted operation of the plants. Out of the total money, Rs 18 crore will be used for improving the Puranpur mill, and the rest of the Rs 17 crore will be used for Semikhera.”
