Uttar Pradesh: Yogi Adityanath slams opposition over allegations on cane dues

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath slammed the opposition parties at the state assembly alleging that they are inciting the farmers’ agitation across the country.

Citing the steps taken by the UP government for the welfare of the farmers, he said, “During the lockdown, the sugar mills from Maharashtra had stopped operations but we ran them and have produced record sugar, ethanol and sanitisers during the pandemic period.”

“The opposition is making an issue of pending cane dues. But they are not speaking who was in power when the dues were pending since 2013. We have cleared dues worth Rs 1.22 lakh crore till date. We have paid more than what was paid between 2004 and 2017,” he said.
