Yamunanagar: Sugar mill commences cane crushing season

Yamunanagar, Haryana: Saraswati Sugar Mills has started crushing operations on Tuesday and set a target of 160 lakh tonnes for this season. Chief operating officer of the mill, S K Sachdeva, inaugurated the mill’s operations.

Yamunanagar district is considered as a hub of sugarcane crop with the district having an area of 85,000 acres. More than 20,000 sugarcane farmers from 672 villages of Yamunanagar, Ambala and Kurukshetra districts of Haryana are associated with the sugar mill. D P Singh, senior vice-president (cane) said, “This year we have set a target of crushing 160 lakh quintal of sugarcane.”
