Lucknow: Slamming previous SP and BSP governments, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath claimed that after assuming office his government paid record sugarcane dues to sugarcane farmers.

CM said, “For the first time after the Independence, over Rs 70,000 crore outstanding payment was made to sugarcane farmers.”

Earlier, Yogi had warned that the delay in clearing the arrears of sugarcane farmers would not be tolerated and directed the officials to ensure that sugar mill owners make the full payment of sugarcane farmers by August.

The CM said Pipraich and Munderwa sugar mills had been started for cane growers of eastern UP. Pipraich mill will have a crushing capacity of 50,000 quintals per day.

The sugar mills in UP are yet to pay over Rs 10,000 crores to the cane growers during the 2018-19 crushing season.
