2 Pilots Killed As IAF Jet Crashes In Kashmir’s Budgam

Srinagar, Feb 27 (UNI) Two pilots were killed when an Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet crashed in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday.

A senior police official said they have recovered two bodies from the crash site.

Official sources said an IAF jet, which took off from Technical Airport in Budgam, crashed at around 1040 hrs.

“The debris of the jet was found in Garend Kalan, about 7 km from the airport in an open field,” they said.

The pilot and the co-pilot died after they failed to eject safely before the fighter jet crashed.

“The cause of the crash was not immediately known,” they said, adding that the area has been sealed.

Locals said that they heard two loud explosions before the aircraft caught fire and crashed into the ground.
