App for sugarcane farmers in Kalaburagi district

Kalaburagi: The Kalaburagi district administration has decided to launch a mobile application to help farmers to get all the details related to sugarcane farming including harvesting and crushing, reports The Hindu.

Deputy Commissioner Yeshwant V. Gurukar said that they have found solution to address the problems of the cane farmers.

The app will help farmers with harvesting and crushing operations. The farmers can raise requests for harvesting their cane and specify details about total crop area and quantity. The factory will float a calendar for harvesting cane depending on the data received through the app.

The app will be launched soon and will become operational next season. NSL Sugars at Bhusnoor village in Aland taluk had prepared a calendar for crushing cane on a pilot basis. The mill will crush around 1, 24,768 tonnes of cane grown in 91 villages by April 10.

The district administration would float a helpline to answer queries raised by the cane farmers. Farmers can register their complaints that would be monitored by the district administration.
