Around 75,000 notices served to GST defaulters

The goods and services tax (GST) defaulters have come under the authorities scanner in Gujarat. According to the reports, GST authorities have recently identified nearly 75,000 defaulters and issued notices to them for non-payment of taxes.

According to the media reports, around 22,000 businessmen were served notices as they generated e-way bills and also filed GSTR-1, but failed to GSTR-3B which is accompanied by payment of tax.

15,000 traders also received notices for anomalies in tax credit claims. 8,000 businessmen faced notices from government official as they have failed to file returns since registering as a GST taxpayer. 30,000 notices were slapped to those who failed to pay GST.

Recently, the government had identified 5,106 “risky exporters” who have claimed GST refunds based on the bogus invoice.
