Bangladesh to import 50,000 tons of sugar from India soon: State Minister Ahasanul Islam Titu

State Minister for Commerce Ahasanul Islam Titu announced that Bangladesh is set to import 50,000 tons of sugar from India soon, reported Dhaka Tribune.

The minister conveyed this positive development during an exchange of views with local leaders at his residence in Tangail’s Delduar.

Highlighting the discussions held with Indian authorities, Titu shared that after a pause in sugar exports from India to Bangladesh, fruitful negotiations have resulted in an agreement for the import of 50,000 tons of sugar. He expressed optimism that the country would receive shipments of sugar and onions from India before the Ramadan period. Additionally, he mentioned that imports of sugar from other countries, including Brazil, are also anticipated.
