Bijnor: Sugar mills asked to make arrangements to send labourers home

Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh: Sugar mills from the district have been asked to make arrangements to send labourers working in their mills to their respective villages after finishing cane crushing. According to the media report, as many as 9 sugar mills are operating in the district and are likely to complete the crushing season soon.

According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, District sugarcane officer Yashpal Singh has issued instructions to all the sugar mills in the district in this regard.

Most of the workers are from Bihar, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. Crushing in the sugar mills are in the last phase.

The news report further added that, “The sugar mills have been asked to make arrangements to take labourers home. Strict action will be taken against those mills not following these instructions and leaving labourers to their plight. The mills have to follow social distancing rules amid threat of Covid-19.”
