Sugarcane Committee to set up Farmers Welfare Fund

Pilibhit: This year, the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee will establish a Farmers’ Welfare Fund, reports Amar Ujala. This fund will be used to assist needy sugarcane farmers.

Until now, the Cooperative Sugarcane Development Committee did not have any provisions for the economic assistance of sugarcane farmers. This time, the committee has a plan to create a Farmers’ Welfare Fund. As per this plan, during each sugarcane season, the committee administration will deduct one rupee per quintal from all 96,000 farmers and deposit it into the Farmers’ Welfare Fund. For this purpose, a bank account will be opened with the joint signatures of the District Sugarcane Officer and the Committee Secretary.

The fund will provide financial assistance for the education of talented children of extremely poor farmers and the medical treatment of farmers. Particularly vulnerable and economically weaker farmers will be the main beneficiaries. The committee administration has scheduled a meeting of the annual general body on September 1st at noon on the committee premises to implement this plan practically.
