BKU demands revival of sugar mill

Kaptanganj: Bhartiya Kisan Union (Bhanu group), an organization fighting for the rights of sugarcane farmers has demanded that the government should revive the Laxmiganj sugar mill on a priority basis.

Ramchandra Singh, district unit head of the organization said, “During elections, the UP government had promised that the defunct sugar mills will be revived and made operational once they come to power. However, despite coming to power, the government has not taken any step to revive the Laxmiganj sugar mill which is lying defunct for many years. We want the government to either repair the mill or construct a new sugar mill in the region.”

The delegation of the farmers submitted the memorandum to the SDM addressed to the Governor on Friday.
