Cane payment: Uttar Pradesh government gives big relief to sugarcane farmers

Lucknow: Good news for the cane farmers of Cooperative Sugar Mills of Uttar Pradesh. In order to comply with the instructions given by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for immediate Cane price payment, a lone amount of Rs.500 crore has been released by the Government for payment of cane price arrears of farmers. This amount received in the form of loan will be directly credited into the accounts of the farmers. Hon’ble cane Minister Shri Laxmi Narayan Choudhary informed that this loan has been sanctioned to Cooperative mills for the payment of outstanding sugarcane price for the crushing season 2021-22 against the amount provided under the budget of the current financial year 2022-23. He also said that the interest of farmers is the utmost priority of the present government.

Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy said that the Government is determined to make Speedy cane price payment to the farmers and keeping in mind the repayment capacity of the Cooperative Sugar Mills, a lone of Rs.500 crores has been provided to the Cooperative mills. This amount will be Credited directly to the accounts of cane farmers by allotting them to the Cooperative mills.Due to the holidays of fourth Saturday and Sunday, this amount will be credited in the accounts of cane farmers from Monday midnight to Tuesday midnight. He also informed that from the level of Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development Department, the cane price payment being made by sugar mills to farmers is being continuously reviewed. So far a record cane price payment of Rs.1,75,835.28 crore has been made to the farmers of the State.
