Centre should fix FRP for sugarcane at Rs 3,200 per tonne: Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association

Mysore: Sugarcane farmers in Karnataka demanded a hike in sugarcane price. They claim, due to increase production cost, the current price is not sufficient for them.

Karnataka State Sugarcane Growers Association has urged the government to announce a minimum Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) to Rs 3,200 per tonne for sugarcane.

Kurubur Shantakumar, Association President while talking to the media said that the government has failed to announce the FRP for sugarcane for the past two years, which has become a cause of great worry for the growers. The centre should fix FRP for sugarcane at Rs 3,200 per tonne.

In other states as well, sugarcane farmers requested the government to hike the sugarcane price.
