Chaudhry sugar mill case: Maryam Nawaz’s judicial remand extended

Lahore: The Accountability Court hearing the Chaudhry Sugar Mill case has extended the judicial custody of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter Maryam Nawaz and her cousin Yousuf Abbas for 14 days on Wednesday.

The judge inquired NAB prosecutor about when references of the duo regarding the case will be filed. According to the reports, the prosecutor of the NAB appeared and sought time to file reference against the suspects. He said an investigation into charges was underway, and reference would be filed after completion of the investigation. Following which, the judge extended judicial remand of the suspects. They would be produced in the court again on October 23.

The government’s financial monitoring unit reported to NAB a huge dubious transaction involving billions of rupees with some foreign investment in the sugar mill. Maryam Nawaz name was also surfaced in the mill fraud in which she is a major stakeholder.
