Conditions during next 2 days seem favorable for advancement of southwest monsoon

Pune, May 17 (UNI) Conditions are becoming favourable for the advancement of southwest monsoon over the southern part of Andaman Sea, Nicobar Islands, and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal during next 24-48 hours.

Day temperatures were above normal in some parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar, east Uttar Pradesh, Marathwada, east Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Kerala and in remaining parts of Vidarbha.

Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in some parts of madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, and interior Karnataka.

It was below normal in some parts of Punjab, east Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat State and in remaining parts of Chandigarh and Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.

Day temperatures were normal over rest of the country. The highest maximum temperature recorded over the plains was 46 degrees Celsius in Chandrapur of Vidarbha in Maharashtra. Heat waves swept across isolated places in Vidarbha.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to lash isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Thunderstorm along with gusty winds are very likely at isolated places in Assam,Meghalaya,Nagaland, Manipur,Mizoram,Tripura,Uttarakhand,Himachal Pradesh,Jammu and Kashmir,Haryana,Chandigarh and Delhi,Punjab,west Madhya Pradesh,Gujarat Region,coastal Andhra Pradesh,Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim,Odisha,Tamil Nadu,Puducherry,south interior Karnataka,and Kerala.

Duststorm or thunderstorm along with gusty winds with speed reaching up to 30-40 kmph are very likely at isolated places in west Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during next 24 hours.

Mainly dry weather prevailed in Gangetic West Bengal,east Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gujarat State, Konkan and Goa,madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, coastal and north interior Karnataka, and Lakshadweep.
