Domestic Market

Sugar prices reported stable to positive

Domestic sugar prices in major markets were reported to be stable to positive. Demand is reportedly low in Maharashtra due to heavy rainfall, but it has increased in Uttar Pradesh after remaining quiet for 5-6 sessions. Excess rainfall has reportedly slowed trading activity in Maharashtra. Prices in Muzaffarnagar and Delhi are said to be Rs 10-20 per quintal higher. S-grade in Kolhapur costs between Rs 3,470 and Rs 3,510, while M-grade in Uttar Pradesh costs between Rs 3,630 and Rs 3,680.

According to AgriMandi.live, the price of S grade is expected to trade in the Kolhapur markets between Rs 3,440 and Rs 3,550 per quintal in the near future.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $697.00 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 24.80 c/lb.

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 81.890 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 4.7271, Crude futures traded at ₹6459, Crude WTI traded at $78.84 barrel. Sensex closed 29.07 points lower at 66355.71 whereas Nifty ended 8.25 points higher at 19680.60
