Domestic Market

Sugar prices reported stable to weak

Domestic sugar prices were reported to be stable to negative in major markets due to weak demand. Less sugar availability keeps Maharashtra prices stable, but subdued demand in Uttar Pradesh weighs on prices in North India. Muzaffarnagar, Kolkata, and Delhi prices are said to be Rs 10 per quintal lower, while Kolhapur traded flat. In Kolhapur, S-grade costs between Rs 3,470 and Rs 3,510, while M-grade costs between Rs 3,630 and Rs 3,660 in Uttar Pradesh.

According to AgriMandi.live, the price of S grade is expected to trade in the Kolhapur markets in the near future between Rs 3,440 and Rs 3,550 per quintal.

International Market

At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #5 front month contract is trading at $681.50 ton, whereas the New York Sugar #11 front month contract is trading at 24.14 c/lb.

Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices

The rupee traded against the US dollar at 81.896 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 4.7378, Crude futures traded at ₹6515, Crude WTI traded at $79.53 barrel. Sensex closed 440.38 points lower at 66266.82 whereas Nifty ended 118.40 points lower at 19659.90
