Domestic sugar prices traded lower
Domestic sugar prices reported to be weak by Rs 10-20 per quintal, across the major markets. Prices were traded lower by Rs 20-30 per quintal in Maharashtra and Karnataka while down by Rs 10-20 per quintal in Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra mills have produced 4.5 MMT of sugar with recovery of 8.7% and 193 mills are operating. Sugar recovery is reported slightly higher compared to the previous year.
Trade sources indicated that demand continues to be strictly need-based, as crushing operations are progressing smoothly across major producing states, ensuring comfortable supply availability. Additionally, the widening gap between lower export realizations and relatively higher domestic price levels is expected to keep overall market sentiment under pressure in the near term.
Spot prices in major physical markets mirrored this subdued tone. In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, M-grade sugar was quoted in the range of тВ╣3,930тАУтВ╣4,010 per quintal. Meanwhile, in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, S-grade sugar traded marginally lower at тВ╣3,580тАУтВ╣3,640 per quintal, extending the gradual downward trend observed over the past few sessions.

International Market
At the time of writing this update London White Sugar #The 5 front month contract is trading at $432.60 ton, whereas the New York Sugar # 11 The front month contract is trading at 15.22 c/lb. The corn futures market trades at 447-4 and the ethanol Chicago trades at 1.65500s.
Currency, Commodity & Indian Indices
The rupee traded against the US dollar at 89.785 whereas USD was trading with BRL at 5.5439 Crude WTI traded at $58.00 a barrel. Sensex closed 345.91 points down at 84,695.54 whereas Nifty closed 100.20 points lower at 25,942.10
