Demand to fix sugar prices as per its grade

Shirdi, Maharashtra: Central government should change the existing rate pattern for sugar which is Rs 31 per kg for all grades, said MLA Ashutosh Kale, who is also the chairman of Karmaveer Shankarrao Kale sugar mill.

Kale said, “This is improper. The government should instead decide rate as per the grades. Sugar mills are bearing the loss of Rs 400 to Rs 500 per tonne.”

“Last year flood had affected the sugarcane farming. We had set a target of crushing 3.50 lakh tonne sugarcane but our efficient management helped in crushing 3.65 lakh tonne cane and produce 3,94,000 quintal sugar,” he further added.

Earlier also many within the industry had demanded that there should be a difference in the prices of sugar of M grade, S grade and L grade.
