Egypt floats tender to import 100,000 tonnes of raw cane sugar

Cairo: According to the news agency Reuters, Egypt requires around 100,000 tonnes of Brazilian raw cane sugar and the country’s state sugar buyer ESIIC has floated the tender for the same with a deadline of April 24.

ESIIC has requested the shipment of 50,000 tonnes of sugar from May 21 to June 5 and a second shipment from July 5-20.

The annual sugar production of Egypt is about 2.5 million tonnes and the annual consumption is around 3.3 million tonnes.
