Hamburg: A tender floated by Egypt’s state sugar buyer ESIIC has received a response. According to the news agency Reuters, the lowest price offered in the international tender to buy 100,000 tonnes of raw sugar is believed to be $462.99 tonne c&f.

According to the media report, no official confirmation has been released on the purchase.

ESIIC had requested that the first shipment of 50,000 tonnes of sugar should arrive during July 5-15 and the second shipment of remaining stock to arrive during August 15-25.

Egypt aims to achieve self-sufficiency in sugar production in the next three years to meet the domestic need.
