Ethanol plant to be set up in Una: Himachal CM

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has announced plans to establish an ethanol plant at Jeetpur Behari in the Una district of the state. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a meeting on Thursday with officials from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to discuss the establishment of the ethanol plant.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister stated that both HPCL and the state government would share the construction costs of the plant, with the state’s contribution covering the expenses related to the allocated land. The anticipated benefits of the plant include a monthly revenue generation of Rs. 21 crores and a daily ethanol production capacity of 1.5 lakh litres once operational. Moreover, the Chief Minister highlighted the plant’s positive impact on pollution control and environmental preservation.

Emphasizing the potential employment opportunities, particularly for farmers in the region, the Chief Minister stated that this initiative would have a significant and lasting effect. He urged all involved parties to ensure the completion of the plant within a two-year timeframe.

Reiterating the state government’s commitment to transforming Himachal into a green energy state by March 31, 2026, the Chief Minister pointed out the implementation of various schemes and programs aimed at achieving this ambitious target across the state.
