‘Farmer Help Centers’ of Cane Development Department is helpful for farmers of the State

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: Commissioner, Cane and Sugar, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy informed that on the basis of the feedback given by the Cane farmers of different regions, facts have come to the knowledge that in the last crushing session owners of local cyber cafe and Jan Suvidha kendra charged extra fees from the cane farmers for filling declaration form and for applying to new membership of Society through online mode. This caused financial difficulties to the farmers. To solve this problem of fillup the online declaration form and to apply for new membership under SGK (Smart Ganna Kisan) project, a training program for cane farmers is being conducted sugar mill wise under the direction of Deputy Cane Commissioner.

He also informed that under this training program, the cane farmers and their family members are being trained to apply for new membership of cane societies and filling the declaration forms on their Android mobile phone. This training program will be conducted till 30th July, 2022. The Cane Commissioner has appealed to the farmers to become smart ganna kisan by participating in this training programme to avoid any fraud.
Shri Bhoosreddy also informed that for filling the online declaration form and for applying society new membership, 451 ‘Farmer Help Centres’ have been set up at the offices of Deputy Cane Commissioner, District Cane Officer, Senior Cane Development Inspector, Secretary and also at the offices of the Sugar Mills. Free assistance is being provided at these help centers to Cane farmers.

The Cane Commissioner has appealed to the farmers that even after training, if they face any problems in filling the declaration form and for applying new membership of the Society, ‘Farmer Help Centres’ have been established in the departmental offices for their help, where they will be given free assistance.

A total of 451 ‘Farmer help centers’ have been established including 56 in Saharanpur region, 57 in Meerut region, 72 in Moradabad region, 55 in Bareilly region, 66 in Lucknow region, 35 in Ayodhya region, 37 in Devipatan region, 30 in Gorakhpur region and 43 centers in Deoria region.

It is also noteworthy that along with these Farmer Help Center, a departmental website www.caneup.in is also working for effective grievance redressal and a 24X7 toll-free number 1800-121-3203 has been established at the headquarter of the sugarcane department for any query related to cane marketing.
