Farmers ask millers to clear pending arrears before starting cane crushing season

Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh: Sugarcane farmers under the banner of BKU have asked sugar mills to clear the pending cane arrears before starting cane crushing operations. They have threatened that they won’t allow the sugar mills to operate if the mills fail to clear their dues.

Farmers claim that the administration had assured them on October 16 that the sugar mills will clear pending dues, but yet cane dues have not been cleared yet.

According to the news report published in Amarujala.com, BKU leader Mahendra Singh Randhawa said, “Sugar mills failed to clear cane dues despite assurance. If farmers issue would not be resolved then we will stage a demonstration.”
