Farmers delegation from various sugarcane growing States to visit Brazil to study ethanol production

Mysuru: A delegation of leaders of farmers from cane-producing states in India will visit Brazil to study the ethanol production, its uage and submit a report in this regard to the government, reports The Hindu.

The visitors include the farmers’ leaders from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, industry experts and government officials.

As per media report, the delegation will soon leave for Brazil.

Kurubur Shanthakumar, President, Karnataka Sugarcane Cultivators Association, who is one among the delegates, said, “Increase in ethanol production would help the sugar mills to clear the cane dues of farmers in time, It will help in resolving the financial crisis of the farmers,” he said.

“Apart from increasing farmers’ income, the ethanol blending program will help the country to lower the expenditure on crude oil import,” he further added.
