Fiji Prime Minister supports cane growers despite reducing revenue

Though the revenue is reducing, we support the sugarcane growers, said Fiji’s Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.

Addressing the farmers at the Growers Field Day in Tunalia, Nadi, PM said that he will always support the cane farmers and will speak straight whether it is good or bad.

The world economy is in crisis and the situation we are facing is the same here. He says the guaranteed price of $85 per tonne will be paid to farmers by the close of the season, as promised.

“We are also upgrading the roads leading to the cane fields and are easing their burden by increasing subsidy on fertilizer and weedicide.” he further added.
